It was recently revealed that Katie Holmes departed the fashion label she founded with her stylist named Homes & Yang. The news was confirmed in a statement via Elle UK magazine which Katie currently covers. The actress commented on her time working for the label, saying she is proud of what she accomplished:
“I loved every minute of my time working on Holmes & Yang. I remain passionate about the design aesthetic we created, and am so happy with what Jeanne and I accomplished. However I am now concentrating on acting and motherhood, which did not leave the label the time and attention it deserved. I’m really thrilled that the final showcase for Holmes & Yang is in ELLE – I had a blast at my shoot for the magazine. It is fantastic to feel like it’s ending on a high.”
Katie adds that she needs to focus on giving her daughter Suri a great childhood. She comments that she wants to be there for her daughter through everything and celebrate her life as she hits milestones along the way:
“I think the basics are very important. The number one thing is making sure my child feels loved, and good about herself. And that what she does and who she is, is special and important, and should be celebrated.”
Katie says that she used to watch her sisters do their makeup and was always fascinated by the process at a young age. Her mother gave her great advice for wearing makeup:
“I was pretty lucky… I’m the youngest of five with three older sisters, so when I was a little girl, I spent a lot of the time in the bathroom just watching them. I was just intrigued by make-up and my mom was very frank with us and said, ‘There are natural beauties in the world, but make-up enhances.’”
