Talented, beautiful and interesting celebrities quite often become a muse for designing something original and sensational. Jane Birkin, Grace Kelly, Sofia Loren, Brigitte Bardot and Gisele Bundchen – all these amazing ladies have been a great source of inspiration for famous fashion designers, who have created designer handbags especially for them. Most of these bags have become iconic, and voguish fashionizers wouldn’t spare anything to have any of them. So what are these bags so famous for?
Birkin by Hermes
This is far the most famous handbag in the fashion world. The legend of it is as follows. In 1981, on a flight from Paris to London, Hermès chief executive Jean-Louis Dumas was seated next to Jane Birkin, a popular singer and actress. She had just placed her straw bag in the compartment over her seat, when suddenly it fell down and all the contents got scattered on the floor. She jumped to gather everything and started complaining to Dumas, that she couldn’t find a roomy, yet elegant bag. Already in 1984, Dumas created a black supple leather bag especially for Birkin. Ever since then she started using the handbag for herself and it became an iconic one.

Now almost all respected celebrities have at least one Brikin handbag. However, it’s not so easy to get them. First you will have to wait until it is made for you and then you’ll have to pay about $150 000 for this luxurious accessory, depending on the material used and the size of the bag.

Kelly by Hermes
Kelly bag was first designed in 1935, when Hermes focused on the production of horse-riding accessories. Some time later the handbag became an elegant fashion accessory. It got its name, when princess Grace Kelly was photographed covering her baby bump (at that time her pregnancy wasn’t announced yet) with a Hermes bag.
Nowadays, all women would dream to have one Kelly handbag. Though it’s not as popular as Birkin, still it’s quite expensive and again the price depends on the material used and on the size of the bag.

Brigitte Bardot Bag by Lancel
The designer of this fantastic bag is Leonello Borghi, the creative director of Lancel. It was Brigitte Bardot’s image that served as a source of inspiration for the designer to create this work of art. The soft material the bag is made of reminds about the smooth curves of Bardot’s figure. Tassels imitate her cascading hair. The lining of the bag features plaid prints, which were actress’s favorite prints. The bag is made of tweed and fake suede, since Brigitte Bardot was strongly against the use of fur and leather.

Greta by Bally
Greta Garbo is a real legend, a symbol of elegance and femininity. She loved simple clothing and accessories, so the handbag named after her by Bally, couldn’t be less iconic. The bag was launched in 2007 in a limited edition.

Lady Dior by Dior
This bag became so famous, ever since Princess Diana started wearing it. About 20 years passed since the day Lady Dior bag was designed, but now all women seem to love it even more than before. The design of the bag hasn’t changed so much. It preserves the same simple geometric shape, two small handles and metallic charms with letters that stand for Dior.

Sofia Bag by Salvatore Ferragamo
Sofia Loren is a living legend, whose acting talent will be always praised. Her incredible beauty and amazing personality inspired Salvatore Ferragamo to create a special bag in her honor. Sofia bag by Salvatore Ferragamo is very simple, yet extremely elegant. It can come in various colors and the shape of the iconic handbag hasn’t changed much over time. It’s the favorite handbag of celebrities, like Jennifer Aniston and Katie Holmes.

Constance by Hermes
Hermes Constance bag was designed in 1969 in honor of Hermes dynasty ladies. When Jackline Kennedy appeared in public with this big, it became famous as O-bag.

Gisele Bag by Luella
Gisele Bundchen, a popular model, is another source of inspiration for creating an iconic handbag. In 2002, when the Luella brand was on the verge of bankruptcy, Gisele was asked to carry the new bag named in her honor on the runway. After the show, the bag started selling very well. Gisele Bag by Luella saved the company from bankruptcy and became very popular ever since then.

Handbags play a great role in a woman’s style, especially iconic handbags, inspired by world famous celebrities!
