Kate Upton channels a modern-day pin-up look for the September cover of Elle, and inside the issue she opens up on what it’s like to be a model. Kate reveals that although her ‘Sports Illustrated’ cover was a big breakthrough in her career, she was left feeling down because she grew tired of being treated like an object quickly:
“After my first Sports Illustrated cover, I felt terrible for a solid month, every single guy I met was either married or about to be married, and I felt like i was their bachelor present or something.”
Kate also thinks models are often treated as though they’re “dumb” but she isn’t too worried about that misconception because she knows she can use it to her own advantage and surprise people along the way:
“People deal with models like they are children. They think they can pull one over on you. It’s actually funny. I’m always like, I’m about to pull something on you, and you’re so focused on thinking I’m dumb you’re not even going to know.”
