The first thing we typically ask when we see a celebrity on the red carpet or at an event is who designed their outfit? We often take note of their shoes and accessories too, but what other things do we notice? Their hair, makeup, and nails! Unique nail art is becoming more and more important to stars’ everyday and evening looks, so it’s no surprise we couldn’t keep our eyes off Alexa Chung’s nails at the British Fashion Awards earlier this week.
We’ve seen velvet nails, caviar nails, sequin nails, polish with diamonds in it, and now there’s even a nail polish rental service. So what’s next? “Aaaaannnnnndddd thanks @nailsinc for my leather nails! #kinky,” Chung tweeted the night of the awards ceremony. That’s right – Alexa, who won the Style Icon award, rocked leather on her nails to match her black Simone Rocha dress.
Nails Inc. London, the company Chung thanked for her fabulous manicure, has created a nail polish “inspired by the SS13 trend for texture and leather.” The polish apparently applies glossy but dries down “into a chic leather look texture,” which means you only have to put in the same amount of effort as if you were painting your nails any regular color. The polish, whose bottle features a limited edition cap made to look like leather, comes packaged in the “Bling It On” set with a few silver crystal skull embellishments that you can glue on to add some extra sparkle to your nails. The kit also comes in tan with gold crystal skulls, but neither is for sale yet. The Nails Inc. London site only says the polish is “coming soon,” so we’ll be watching closely for it to go on sale. We’re sure it’ll sell out quickly, especially if the company gets more celebrities to get a leather manicure!
We love this idea of adding a tough touch to a killer outfit. Plus, there’s no better way to add a little extra leather to your wardrobe. What do you think of this nail polish? Will your next manicure be a leather manicure?
