There may be a lot of talk about what everyone will be wearing come Spring 2013, don’t forget about the beauty looks that designers sent down the runway along with their clothes. Check out some of the hairstyles that the models were rocking at New York Fashion Week, and take some cues about the hottest hair trends you’ll see everyone else with next spring.
Many designers styled their models with low ponytails to show off their sporty styles or the extremely detailed ensembles. Alexander Wang, Reem Acra, and Michael Kors all had their hairstylists slick back the models’ hair and secure with plenty of hairspray, sometimes flatironing it first to make sure the ponytail was sleek and shiny.
Plenty of designers opted for a looser, easier style in the form of wavy hair. Hairstylists at Rebecca Minkoff, J. Mendel, and Thakoon Addition cited using “the night before” as inspiration for the look, and created this sexy behead look using mousse and by finger combing wet hair. A curling iron added some extra body and movement to the hair.
Braids of all kinds were featured on many runways, from perfect ones to messier, random braids. Designers like Jason Wu, Tory Burch, Marchesa, and Tracy Reese used the 1960s reference to accent their designs.
Deep Side Parts
Hairstylists at Derek Lam, Marc Jacobs, and DKNY used the 1990s as inspiration for the deep side parts they styled models with. The parts framed the models’ faces with straight hair that was left hanging naturally or was pulled back into low ponytails or buns.
