Taylor Swift loves pouring her feelings about the most intimate aspects of her life into her songs, so it’s no wonder that Wonderland magazine chose Taylor Swift as the cover girl for their April/May 2013 issue, also known as their “Outspoken” issue. During her interview with the magazine, Swift speaks out about her paparazzi pet peeve, her career as a country-pop star, and (not surprisingly) her track record when it comes to relationships!
23-year-old Taylor views relationships like traffic lights and she’s convinced that she “can only exist in a relationship if it’s a green light.” When a relationship doesn’t end well, you inevitably face a “very complex” kind of heartbreak. Swift says having your heart broken involves a roller coaster of emotions, ranging from feeling sad to getting angry to feeling confident, doubtful, insecure, jealous, and finally back to sad again. Eventually you begin to feel fine again, but the other stages are necessary for dealing with the despair heartbreak brings.
As for finding happiness in all other aspects of her life, Swift is only focused on living her life and being content for now. She’s “content in the uncertainty of life in your 20s” and enjoys the curveballs that are constantly thrown at her. Swift may not understand what true happiness is now, but she finds it exciting that everything is up in the air and that she can take in all the experiences possible that will help her form her permanent beliefs later in life. She states,
“I’ve kind of realized that I have no idea where I’m going to be next year, or in six months, or in two months. I mean, I know where I’ll be on tour in two months, but no idea where I’m going to be mentally, emotionally, dreams, goals, wishes, hopes. I have no idea if I’m going to get married or be single forever or have a family or just be on my own. You know, paint in a cottage by the ocean by myself. I just have no idea and I’m kind of into that. You can make a board for all the goals you want in your life with the pictures on it, and that’s great, daydreaming is wonderful, but you can never plan your future.”
Amid all the uncertainty, one thing has remained constant in Swift’s life – the number 13. Taylor says her lucky number has bombarded her “at certain times when I’ve had the best night and the world night at the same time.” She uses both the positive and negative experiences to help guide her next move and takes the number as a sign that “things are lining up the way they’re supposed to be.”
On the cover of Wonderland, Swift shows off her light blue eyes while wearing a red Christian Dior dress. For the rest of her spread, Swift wears a yellow Simone Rocha dress to pose with a skateboard for photographer Tung Walsh. She also poses with a giant blow-up giraffe and on a chair in a printed Versus frock. Check out all the photos below and let us know what you think of Taylor’s looks for the publication! Does she playfully pull off the retro fashions or should she have stuck to a different style?
