Zooey Deschanel doesn’t like celebrities who are obsessed with fashion labels and are snobby about what they wear. She reveals that she was once wearing a jacket that wasn’t expensive when a fellow star and her stylist approached her to give her a compliment about the jacket – only to discover that it wasn’t expensive and Zooey wasn’t impressed with how they acted. She opened up on the strange experience:

”I remember I was wearing a cute jacket, and I saw this well-known actress – who will remain nameless – with her stylist. They said, ‘Oh my God, that’s so cute, where did you get it?’ I told them, and it was not a fancy brand, and then they were like, ‘Oh…’. I just thought, ‘Do you not like it anymore because of the brand? That’s so dumb. And you have just made yourself into a cartoon villain.”’

Zooey believes not all clothing has to be extremely designed, showy or flashy, and she thinks there is a big market for items that everyone can wear and that are just more simple and modest generally:

”There is an audience for more modest clothes. I hate that fashion could be something that excludes people.”

Commenting on her signature hairstyle which includes very recognizable bangs, Zooey said that she loves her personalized look and she thinks it makes her more memorable looking for people:

”I do see the advantage of having something people can grab onto: ‘Hey, I know who that is! She has bangs!”’
