American fashion designer Jeremy Scott has built up quite a reputation for himself with his own namesake label and Adidas collaborations, and now he’s ready to tackle other projects. Scott has just been named as the new creative director of Moschino, taking on a whole new fashion house. We’re likely to see a huge overhaul when the first collection lands – similar to how Humberto Leon and Carol Lim revamped Kenzo or how Hedi Slimane has made Saint Laurent his own since taking over. A statement confirmed the news:

“This appointment respects the DNA of the brand as Jeremy Scott represents not only an eclectic and contemporary communicator but most of all a designer capable of reinterpreting the identity and the essence of Moschino.”

Scott revealed that he actually previously interned for the company so the huge jump is like a dream come true:

“The ironic thing is, during my last year of college, when I was at Pratt, I interned for the Moschino press office, for Michelle Stein here in New York,” Scott said. “Yeah, it’s kind of a fairy-tale story. I was the intern, and now I’m running the company.”

And on why they’re a good match, Scott says it’s all down to a sense of humor:

“It’s one of the few houses that has humor, and it’s the same thing for me, we share an obsession with poking fun at fashion. Whimsy, also.”
