Karl Lagerfeld may be pushing on in years, but the iconic fashion designer clearly has no plans to retire and is keeping busy with a constant flow of projects. Two big plans have just been announced related to the designer. Lagerfeld has just signed a 5-year deal to expand his ‘Karl Lagerfeld’ concept stores in the Middle East, with plans to open 25 new stores by 2018. Patrick Chalhoub, Co-Chief Executive Officer of the Chalhoub Group who inked the deal with the designer, commented that they’re excited to bring his world to their customer base:

”We believe that by combining our expertise with Karl Lagerfeld’s iconic vision and strategy, we will be able to build a successful brand in the Middle East region and respond to customers’ needs and aspirations.”

As well as the new expansion, Karl will stage the upcoming Chanel Resort collection in Dubai on May 13th. The luxurious label has three Chanel stores in the famously lavish city and the designer is said to have taken his inspiration from the city. A representative commented on the planned collection, explaining why the label chose Dubai as the latest city to debut their new designs:

“A futuristic megalopolis of the 21st century, the ever-developing Emirate of Dubai is a crossroads of civilisations between Europe and Asia. This dynamic and multicultural city that inspires travel and evokes the spirit of cruise is also the perfect setting for the show that will be held on May 13 2014 in the presence of Karl Lagerfeld.”
