For Carine Roitfeld’s second fashion portfolio for Harper’s Bazaar since becoming the magazine’s Global Fashion Director, she styled Kate Upton and other top models in a variety of designer clothes. While the tall beauties brought plenty of sex appeal to the shoot, they faced competition from some smaller, snuggly stars.
Upton, Irina Shayk, Soo Joo Park, Tilda Lindstam, and Senait Gidey were photographed by Sebastian Faena in some of the hottest pre-fall looks for a spread entitled “Carine on the Collections: The Animal Nursery.” Instead of holding the newest accessories to complement the looks, the models posed with baby tigers, ocelots, and monkeys. The 16-page spread, which was shot in Miami, also shows the girls posing under a tent in the middle of field, sometimes wearing nurse caps and stethoscopes. The spread with come out in all 26 international editions of Harper’s Bazaar.
The animals the models posed with had to have been harmless enough to work closely with, but it must have been nice to wear designs from Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein, Céline, Chanel, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, Bottega Veneta, Louis Vuitton, and Alexander Wang while doing it. Roitfeld had a ton of fun at the shoot, stating, “The shoot was a dream come true because I never held a baby monkey and baby tigers before.”
Upton was also featured on the cover of the first issue of Carine Roitfeld’s magazine, CR Fashion Book. She was photographed holding baby chicks for that publication, leading us to believe Roitfeld has a thing for both Upton and baby animals…or maybe just for both of them together!
