Jennifer Lawrence has a new gig that doesn’t involve any Hunger Games-style action. Lawrence has scored the fashionable position of starring in the Spring/Summer 2013 ad campaign for the Miss Dior handbag.

Lawrence has been linked to Dior for a while now, so this choice should have more obvious. She attended Dior’s Haute Couture show back in July, which marked Raf Simons’ debut as designer. She also wore a Dior gown at the Toronto International Film Festival.

This will be Jennifer’s first endorsement for a luxury brand, which she seems a little hesitant about. She said she’s still “getting up to speed” on fashion, but it’s hard not to pay attention to when working in the entertainment industry. She admits that she hates being overdressed, and she always finds a way to “casualize anything too showy.” On days when she doesn’t have any major events to go to or public appearances to make, she gets ready in the morning in about 15 minutes. Lawrence is excited about being the face of Dior though, admitting that “it’s such a dream to represent an iconic brand that is synonymous with high fashion.”

The 22-year-old actress is among several other celebrities that have represented the brand’s Miss Dior Bag, including Mila Kunis and Marion Cotillard. Cotillard is expected to continue her association with the brand, even as Jennifer joins the team. Stars like Sharon Stone, Charlize Theron, and Natalie Portman have also been the face of Dior’s fragrances.

Simons says he was “struck by her unbelievable onscreen presence” and Jennifer’s “powerful portrayal of more emotional and complex characters.” Her youth, classic beauty, feminine strength, and obvious complexity at such a young age are rare in Hollywood and are “very appealing” characteristics to him.

Lawrence’s ads will first appear in magazines in March 2013. What do you think of her new role as the face of the famous bag? Is she a good fit for the campaign, or should she stick to her adventurous film roles?
