The fashion world couldn’t get enough of Cara Delevingne in 2012. She has starred in campaigns for Burberry, Chanel, DKNY, Zara and Opening Ceremony, walked in 31 shows during Spring 2013 Fashion Week, and was named the Model of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in November. She even took a stab at acting with a role in Anna Karenina. If the beginning of 2013 is any indication, we’re guessing 2013 will be even busier for the young model as Cara already scored her first ever Vogue cover!

20-year-old Delevingne was photographed by Mario Testino for the March issue of British Vogue wearing a Giorgio Armani maxi dress and a Super Duper hat. Testino, who also shot her recently for her Burberry campaign, is obviously as taken with her as all her fashion designer fans. He states in the issue that, “every so often girls come around that you don’t only want to photograph, but you want to spend time with them.” So just what makes Delevingne so intriguing that everyone wants to work with her and befriend her?

According to Vogue, she’s “renowned for her blend of energetic, fun-loving personality and quietly captivating beauty.” Delevingne describes her unique upbringing in her interview with the magazine, which probably contributed to her captivating characteristics. She maintains a humble view of her booming career, admitting that she does “sometimes feel a bit alien.” She does want to model and loves to do it, but it still stresses her out because there’s “something about having to be pretty” that’s just not her.

Delevingne may sometimes find it hard to be a model, but did love taking part in the cover shoot. In a video interview, Cara exclaims that she couldn’t believe she was asked to do the British Vogue cover. She continues,

“I didn’t really believe it at first. I think it’s something that as a kid you look up to so much. It’s one of the most shocking things that has ever happened to me, I think. I just stood back and had to get someone to pinch me. I was like: ‘What’s going on?’ I couldn’t believe it.”

It didn’t sink in for Cara until she saw the actual magazine. Once she saw a copy of “the big fashion issue” with her face on the front, she realized how amazing an opportunity it was. “Oh my God, this is me! Oh my God!,” said Delevingne, who’s planning to buy 20 copies of the March issue herself!
