New York Fashion Week is just around the corner, which means we’ll soon find out what the top trends for Fall 2013 will be. We may be dreaming of wearing those warmer styles now, but before next fall comes, we’ll be wearing all the hottest runway looks for Spring 2013. Several trends emerged from the season’s shows, including the classic contrast of black and white.
For Spring 2013, Marc Jacobs sent black and white skirts, jackets, and dresses down the runway. Some pieces were striped, some featured a checkerboard pattern, and some were covered entirely in sequins. The Jil Sander show included many black and white dresses, often cut from structured fabrics and constructed with darting techniques to provide sculpted shapes.
Alexander Wang sent his signature sporty looks down the runway. The deconstructed garments were made “to float on the girls” and many of the styles were made in black and white. The loose, easy styles on Céline’s runway looked beautiful in black and white.
These looks from Narciso Rodriguez, Chanel, Valentino, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Giles, Jason Wu, Maison Martin Margiela, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, and Miu Miu help round out the trend.
These models were the first to wear these black and white looks, but celebrities quickly jumped on the bandwagon. Whether they were spotted out and about running errands or they were all glammed up for a red carpet appearance, these stars have embraced the contrasting looks.
If you can’t get enough of this spring’s hottest trend, shop the pieces below to add some black and white basics to your wardrobe!
