Between Beyoncé, Sasha and Malia Obama, and what the FLOTUS wore, there was no shortage of things to talk about that happened during inauguration weekend. There was one event that stood about above the rest though, something that President Obama called “the most significant event” of the weekend…Michelle Obama got bangs!
Ok, so, MObama’s new hairstyle definitely isn’t an important as the issues her husband deals with everyday as the president of our country, but it did receive more attention than just about everything else the day she first showed off the change. We were left wondering what made Michelle decide to switch things up. We knew what Barack thought – he loved the bangs and thinks she “always looks good” – and we knew what most of the country thought, but now we finally have an answer for what the First Lady was thinking.
In an interview with Rachael Ray conducted through Skype, Michelle says her bangs were the result of a midlife crisis. Pointing to her face, she explained, “This is my midlife crisis, the bangs. I couldn’t get a sports car, they won’t let me bungee jump, so instead I cut my bangs.”
Getting bangs is a fairly calm way to get through a midlife crisis, but as Michelle said, it was really her only option. She couldn’t buy something extravagant or switch careers or date a younger man as some women nearing the age of 50 would do. Plus, the new bangs looks great on her, so why not celebrate her birthday with a little hairstyle change? Leave it up to this First Lady to survive a crisis with class!
