Everyone may be looking ahead to what Spring 2013 has in store, but there are plenty of trends you can try for the current season, especially when it comes to nails. Check out some of the top nail trends that were spotted on the runways for Fall 2012!
First up, many models displayed burgundy nails as they strolled down the catwalk, but there were plenty of other jewel tones as well. Deep berries at Armani and midnight blues at Karen Walker were spotted. Try out Chanel’s Suspicious nail polish for red nails at home, as well as Essie’s Stylenomics collection, which features several shades of red, pink, and deep green.
Adding a little shine to this season’s collections were all the metallic nails spotted on the runways. Models at Behnaz Sarafpour looked like they had mini mirrors on each of their nails, while Tracy Reese used a metallic peacock blue. Models at Alice and Olivia rocked charcoal nails with flecks of gold. Get a hold of the polishes from Zoya’s Diva collection for plenty of metallic and soft glitters in darker shades for Fall.
We all know what the typical pink and white French manicure looks like, but designers took it up a notch for Fall. At Donna Karan, models had red tips painted on the end of a nude nail, while black tips were spotted at Louise Gray. Try using lace or other lightweight fabric to top off your nails too, or combine this trend with the metallic trend to add shine to a French manicure.
Last but not least, there were plenty of designers who really went out on a limb by adding unique textures and prints to nails. Models at Kate Spade showcased nude polka dots on a black background, while Rachel Antonoff designed galaxy-inspired nails for her models. One of the craziest nail trends came in the form of real leather pressed onto fake nails at The Blonds. To get a similar look at home, try Dior’s Golden Jungle nail polish. It gives you the look of crocodile leather on your fingertips.
