Spring/Summer makeup is all about a light, glowing complexion that is low maintenance, flattering and highlights bronzed skin. So, it is no surprise that designers opted for a fresh faced natural look to compliment their Spring/Summer 2013 collections. Paired with surf waves and a maxi-dress, this is the perfect summer look that is simple for day and can transition effortlessly to night with the addition of a bright lip which is highlighted beautifully against nude skin – this is the approach Jason Wu took for his collection’s elegant beauty look. The makeup teamed a deep classic red lip (such as Yves Saint Laurent’s Rouge Pur Couture) with a dewy fresh complexion and nothing more than a lick of mascara to complete it.
The look was similarly as bare at Proenza Schouler – a translucent foundation (like this one by DuWop) was paired with little more than a barely noticeable brown eyeshadow which adds just a little contrast to the eye area. Rag & Bone added a dark rouge lipgloss and slicked back hair to complete the natural, ‘just-out-of-the-water’ surf look that they created as part of their beauty look. At Alexander McQueen the look was at its most extreme – a pale powder dusted over model’s faces made for hauntingly beautiful porcelain complexions that is seriously simply to recreate: just dab a light powdered foundation across your face.
These four fresh faced looks are the best inspiration for preparing your own summer beauty look: just think fresh, natural and sun-kissed!
