Everyone pays close attention to the clothes designers send down the runway at New York Fashion Week, but there are a few other things that are just as important to notice – hair and makeup! Whatever looks models rock when walking the catwalk are a major indicator of the beauty looks that will be popular for the season. Check out some of the biggest makeup trends for 2013 that emerged from New York Fashion Week.
Designers like Donna Karan, Kate Spade, Nicole Miller, and Rebecca Minkoff sent their models down the runway with brightly colored eyeshadow rimming their eyes. This may seem like something that’s been done before many times, but this time around makeup artists used pastel pops of color, opaque shadows, and lined the eye top and bottom with eyeliner of the same color.
Designers also decided on accenting models’ brightly colored eye shadow with bold brows. At Thakoon, Tracy Reese, and Marc Jacobs, makeup artists used pencils to shape and fill in the models’ eyebrows. It may be a little too much for everyday wear, but you could try out the trend if you’re thinking about creating a different look for a night.
A far cry from the bright and bold makeup the previously mentioned designers showcased, designers like Alexander Wang, Rebecca Taylor, and Behnaz Sarafpour opted for a more toned-down beauty look. Makeup artists made sure models had rosy cheeks and slightly stained lips, but they went easy on the eye makeup, skipping it altogether most of the time.
